A £150 million luxurious five-star floating hotel and casino

A 10-minute walk from Gibraltar’s International Airport, one cannot help but spot the 142-metre iconic landmark placed scenically on the lapping waters surrounding Ocean Village. The Sunborn Gibraltar is a £150 million luxurious five-star floating hotel and casino offering a once in a lifetime experience for travellers.

The Sunborn made its maiden voyage via transporter from Malaysia in 2013, bringing to Gibraltar a stunning architectural feat of engineered watercraft.

Combining masterful design that you expect of a super yacht, with custom-built features emulating a luxury cruise liner, the Sunborn slots into its jetty perfectly and has proved to be a huge draw to tourists wanting a taste of the champagne lifestyle.

The devil is in the detail, and everywhere on board screams floating mansion, with an incredible amount to enjoy from the bling Swarovski Chrystal chandelier in reception, ,  to the party vibe up on the atmospheric top deck Aqua Bar, where friends meet up to share jugs of Sangria or cocktails and lounge alongside the open air swimming pool under the azure Mediterranean sky.  Experience the sun set on the Aqua Bar and get those oh so important instagrammable shots!

Of course there is the obligatory gambling aspect, (this is Gibraltar after all!)  The sprawling casino offers a classic but modern casino with traditional Roulette, Blackjack and dozens of Poker tables and a VIP lounge for high stakes players.  Also on offer are a variety of state-of-the-art slot machines and progressive jackpots.

All of the cabins boast space and luxury, with king-sized beds, leather upholstered furniture and most have floor to ceiling sliding doors leading out to a private terrace and views towards Tangiers and Western Spain, perfect to enjoy Gibraltar’s spectacular sunsets nicknamed “the Golden Hour.”

Stepping on board is an experience in itself, walking up the gangplank like a superstar!  If you are visiting for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or fancy a flutter on in the spacious casino, or lucky enough to sojourn in one of the five-star cabins, the Sunborn Gibraltar does not disappoint.  Once inside, you might forget that you are floating on water, the effect is dreamlike!

Dining on the Sunborn is an elegant five-star affair with corresponding service from the “crew”.

The impressive Sapphire Bar, sumptious elegance

Expect culinary masterpieces at the fine dining restaurants, including North African/Mediterranean fusion at The Barbary, and  variety of options at La Sala.  The Hotel caters for guests, small parties and couples, and large events such as weddings, corporate events and trade exhibitions.

No five-star luxury hotel would be complete without an indulging spa treatment. Sunborn Gibraltar´s Infinity Club  offers a number of well being treatments and boasts a fully equipped gym and sauna.

A perfect setting for a special event or meeting up after work on a warm evening.  The backdrop to this particular hotel offers memorable ocean views and sunsets to mark an extraordinary experience.

The amazing phenomenon surrounding Gibraltar is its extremes, from its fascinating military history including the 100-ton cannon located at one end of Gibraltar to Ocean Village Marina with its boutique shops and restaurants. From the Wildlife Park and Barbary macaque monkeys living on the unmistakable Rock, to the quintessential British Main Street offering traditional pubs, designer labels, electrical and perfume shopping. Not forgetting the award-winning architecture, green spaces and leisure facilities.

Gibraltar literally has something for everyone and the Sunborn is the icing on the cake for anyone thinking to visit Gibraltar and soak up what this fantastic country has to offer.
